Report of the Swimming Gala organized by
the FFN and held at Montluçon, France, from the 2nd to 4th
November 2012
This year the lodging was between two hotels the Etap which was near the pool and the Formule 1 which was a slight distance away. I felt this lost some of the atmosphere of the gala lost the spirit of togetherness.
There were nine federation teams from Belgium (2), France (24), Germany (46), Italy (20), the Netherlands (32), Spain (21), Sweden (1), Switzerland (10), United Kingdom (36) and 3 INF members, with a big increase of participants from Italy and Spain and a decrease from the United Kingdom. This was mainly due to the location and the difficulty of the transportation. Plus we had supporter form Egypt who was made welcome by all 195 participants plus supporters of the Federations.
Present throughout the gala was a local newspaper with naturist reports. That might have had advantage for raising the profile of the gala and naturism in the local area. All swimmers and the medal presenters were naked to present and collect their medals. There was an issue for some federations with being naked when you collecting your medals. However this is a fundamental rule which needs to be maintained at this International naturist event.
The evening gala dinner was truly a magnificent meal, which was surpassed by a local band who entertained the whole ground, ensuring all federations were able to join in.
Thanks are given to the FFN for all the hard work for the weekend and we are awaiting the CD of the event.
For 2013, we are looking for candidatures to hold this event. Help from the EuNatCom Sports Officer to run the event will be available.
