For
the 41st Alpe-Adria
Meeting Solaris had again welcomed all guests by a large banner strained over
the access road to the campground. Unfortunately only 3 federations had
submitted the forms sent to them 3 months before. For this reason, numerous
participants still had to be lately registered on Wednesday by Sieglinde Ivo and
Jean Peters.
A
meeting with the responsible sports officers was foreseen for Thursday morning
at 10.00h, which however had to be cancelled, as one federation still had not
arrived yet, so that the individual sports lists could not completely be
printed nor distributed. Therefore the sports officers had to pick up the lists
at Jean by the following morning only!
In
the meantime the 2 cooperative entertainers of Solaris had superbly prepared
the various sports courts, so that nothing was blocking the beginning of the
competitions anymore. Sadly enough the weather forecasts for the coming days were
not very brilliant, what lead many visitors to keep off to participate, so only
about 150 persons were present. Yet, this did not only affect Alpe-Adria, but
in general the all-over presence of guests at Solaris.
Following federations had participated: DFK(+BNV) (Germany+Bavaria), DNH (Croatia), FENAIT (Italy), FENHU (Hungary), FLN (Luxembourg), ÖNV (Austria), RUS+Ukraine and ZDNS (Slovenia).
After
the official opening on 30th May around 12:30 the various
competitions started at 14:30 under dry weather conditions: chess (ÖNV),
table-tennis (FENHU), badminton (RUS), cross for children (DNH) and adults as well as tug of war (FLN + Jim).
On
31st May the start for tennis (DFK) and volley-ball (ZDNS) fall flat
because of the rain, but could be restarted during the afternoon and be fully
completed, in view of the low number of participants.
(Pétanque referees with a
rain umbrella or parasol, that’s the question!)
On
1st June the weather was fine again, so the pétanque tournament with
23 doublets, under leadership by FENAIT and Jim, and the beach-volley-ball (ZDNS)
could be terminated within the time limits.
The gala-dinner during the evening was just excellent, as always. After dinner the prize
giving with remittance of trophies and medals was held at the first floor of
GALEB, together with nice dance music.
The
FENHU also received a trophy for the highest numbers of victories in all types of
sports.
You
will find the individual ratings (rankings 1-3) in the annex to this report.
By
the way, the youngest participant was 3 years "old". A trophy for the eldest
participant could not be remitted, simply because in many forms, the
information of age was missing!
On
2nd of June at 10:00 the final meeting with the sport officers took
place in presence of the management of Solaris.
It
was pointed out that the federations should submit their lists correctly
completed and within the deadlines, as this is the first condition to allow an
overall trouble-free course of this event. Jean delivered some technical
explanations hereto and Sieglinde clarified that the sports officers are
checking these listings during their first meeting on Thursday and that
thereafter no more changes will be accepted.
New
lists will be transmitted by EuNatCom to the federations three months ahead of
the event, together with the invitation, and they should be returned to ENC 3
weeks at the latest before the beginning date of the event!
In
case of simultaneous participation to two kinds of sports with the same
starting time, time problems show up again and again, which however cannot be
avoided. Jean proposed that such participants shall participate in the first
type of sport and immediately thereafter participate in the second one, as far
as feasible.
In
view of the weather conditions during May, a postponement to the months of
summertime was discussed. This looks to be rather unrealistic, considering the
vacation periods in the various countries as well as the conflicts with the
scheduling of the other EuNat events.
Slovenia
(ZDNS) apologized for their late arrival and proposed to organize two more types
of sports, mainly for children and adolescents; they will also assume the responsibility
for the new events. This suggestion has been supported, the respective proposal
of event must be remitted to the INF-ENC at least 4 months ahead of AA-2014,
because of scheduling reasons.
Furthermore
it has been suggested to elaborate the program also in Italian, Croatian and
Slovenian languages, in addition to the 3 INF languages. As Solaris had already
added Italian and Croatian, Jean will transmit the program to ZDNS in order to
translate into the Slovenian language.
A
detailed description of this event with all the types of sports should also be
published in the INF-Website, together with the comment that this event
addresses to all European
Federations.
As
several federations had not brought along their trophies, the suggestion was
made that perhaps FENHU (Janos) could bring all trophies and medals. One
prerequisite would be that all listings are correctly completed and submitted
in due time.
Generally
seen the sports officers were very satisfied with this year’s event. Proposals for
improvements are of course always welcome!
We
would like to thank the management of VALAMAR, the Director of SOLARIS, his
team as well all sports officers for their valuable work and we are pleased to
inform them, that the next meeting (Alpe-Adria 2014) will take place at SOLARIS again, from 19th till 22nd June 2014.
According
to the Management of Solaris many bookings for the apartments have already been
made for this period of time, (many
single rooms are still available), so you should send your booking for 2014
in due time, best would be right now and with the usual booking code 411.
