For the 40th Alpe-Adria meeting SOLARIS had surpassed itself again. This was noticed already while driving towards the reception, where a large banner was strung with this header over the road.

Because Jim Russell (GB) could not be present, the registrations during the 6th of June were handled by Sieglinde Ivo and Jean Peters. Because the Russians were not able to show a valid INF license, the INF-President issued these suburbs (in accordance with the last EuNat meeting requirements).

Unfortunately, we had to find out that only one federation had submitted a list of their participants in accordance with EuNatCom sports rules (§ 2, c).

Approximately 250 members attended the competitions. The participating federations were: DFK(+BNV) (Germany+Bavaria), FENAIT (Italy), FENHU (Hungary), FLN (Luxembourg), ÖNV (Austria), RUS+Ukraine und ZDNS (Slovenia).

The foreseen meeting with the sports officials and in the presence of the Director of SOLARIS was held on the 7th of June. It turned out that some federations were not present and had not signed off.

After the official opening at 12:30, the different competitions started under pleasant weather conditions around 14:30: chess, table-tennis, badminton, cross for adults and children and tug-of-war. As the chess tournament could not be completed due to a lack of time, we decided to continue it next day.

On the 8th of June we continued with the running competitions from the 7th. In addition, the tennis tournament started.

Same procedure for the 9th of June, where the running competitions from the 8th of June were continued or terminated. Pétanque and beach-volley tournaments started this day. Unfortunately, the weather changed suddenly on Saturday afternoon and it was raining cats and dogs. That’s why the running pétanque competition, after consultation with the organizer FENAIT, Sieglinde and Jean, was aborted around 14:30. The beach-volley tournament was continued after a delay of one hour and could be finished in time on a wet sandy surface because there were not so much participants.

For the resumption of the pétanque tournament, there was not enough time remaining and so the rankings from noon (when stopped) were considered.

The gala dinner in the evening surpassed all expectations again. The award ceremony with handing over the cups was held after dinner and before dessert in GALEB restaurant. The individual scores (ranked 1 to 3) can be obtained on request from the EuNatCom secretary EuNatCom (
jps3@pt.lu) on simple request.

For dessert, the chief cook of SOLARIS had out passed himself again with two huge cakes. With dance music and a pleasant get-together with “small talk”, the evening terminated around one o' clock in the morning and everyone agreed that the meeting was again a great success.

It remains to mention that the oldest participant was 98 years old and the youngest participant just totalized 2 years!

Special thanks to the director of Solaris, M. Doni Simonović for supplying all sporting grounds and for the 2 animators that were constantly at our disposal.

The closing meeting was held on the 10th of June with the sports officials and in the presence of the Directorate of VALAMAR-SOLARIS.

We would like to thank the Directorate of VALAMAR, the director of Solaris, his team and all sports officials for their valuable work and we are pleased to announce that the next meeting (41st Alpe-Adria 2013) will take place again in SOLARIS from the 30th of May to the 2nd of June 2013, that means one week after the EuNat meeting 2013 in «Le Betulle», Italy.
